What's the deal with always picking on McGee for being a "geek"? Especially in the early episodes. I get that Tony's sort of an ass and that's part of his charm, but still. You do know that real live geeks watch the show, right? So ragging on their D&D games isn't really flattering.

I do appreciate that the geeky jokes let up after a couple of seasons, and Tim even gets back at Tony in one episode. I still love you to bits, but give it a rest.

WORD. There are way more interesting ways to do characterization.

Do you watch the show? That particular episode just irritated me because not only was Tony teasing, Gibbs was sort of teasing too. I mean, no one busts on Abbey for being 'weird', and she is actually way farther out there than McGee. But everyone is accepting and protective of Abbey, which is totally cool. But McGee should get that too. *sigh*

The thing is, I really like the show and that's one of the only things that grates my nerves when I watch. I think they are doing it as a "haze the probie" thing, and all probies get hazed, even Gibbs. And it has let up quite a bit, so that's better.

I've seen a fair few episodes, but not enough to be a regular watcher. (Just enough to understand why it's such a popular and awesome show!) I just hate when people get teased like that on television, because it's not really between friends. It's between 15 TV writers and 10 million TV watchers. And so I end up feeling like the writers are teasing *me*. :(

Like you said, though, one of the things I LOVE about NCIS is Abbey, and how she's a kickass female scientist AND geeky AND goth, and everybody loves her regardless. There are so few characters like her on television.

Yay for watching at least a little! It really is an awesome show. You hit the nail on the head, it's like *I'm * being teased, and not good-naturally - not fun times. And the thing is, it is good-natured with Abbey. We all have no doubt of the depth of Tony's care for her, even when he says she's weird. The good news is that Tony is moving in that direction with Tim, just slowly. Speed it up, show! And Abbey truly does rock. She is unique as hell, and so fun.
