I had a Vividcon viewing party at my house again this year and I thought it would be cool to make a list of all the vids I showed at the party, and the others that I really liked but didn't have time to show. It grew into a monster rec list - I don't know if I'll ever do a list this comprehensive again! But I think most of you may find at least a couple of interesting things to watch. If you love vids it’s worth the $40 yearly fee so you can stream everything (including some stuff that isn’t up online!) and get a DVD of some of the new vids.

Did anyone else get chills when hearing the music start up?  Peter has lost so much weight!  He hardly looks like the little hobbit he used to, but good for him.  So much squee and nostalgia from watching and hearing Peters voice and seeing Bag End and Rivendell and seeing Ian and OMG we have to wait 3 YEARS?!?  *sigh*

Most of the submissions from Ship Olympics Event 3 are posted, but this one made me double over laughing.  I was going to wait to look at them all at once today, but it caught my eye last night and I couldn't resist.  (Comment here if you like)

And in the way of all the best internet ramblings I stumbled across something new to me on youtube: Kinetic Typography Animation.  The first one I saw was for Firefly, which I LOVED, but it seems there are all kinds out there.

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!  *smishes them*

*Note: LJ hates me today and I can't get my LJ cuts to work with my embeds properly.  But I'm out of time to fiddle with it anymore.  So, until I can make my cuts work, there are Kinetic Typography videos for Firefly, Trek XI and First Contact, LotR, Ocean's 11, Braveheart, Monty Python, President Obama, The Matrix, Pirates of the Caribbean, Iron Man, and Star Wars under the cut.  Yeah, I was really on a roll today!  :D*

And now I'm done procrastinating!

- I'll respond by asking you five questions to satisfy my curiosity.
- Update your journal with the answers to your questions.
- Include this explanation and offer to ask other people questions.

This one is for[ profile] yeomanrand :

1. Pick one of your fandoms, then name a pairing you could never write for that fandom, and say why.
This one is kind of hard because I tend to be very open about pairings.  I tend to move through them, and I never know where I'll be in a month's or year's time.  But, I have no interest in Shawn/Gus from Psych, so I probably wouldn't write it.  I usually love buddy!slash, but Shawn/Lassiter is my firm Psych OTP and I'm not interested in breaking them up.

2. Who do you want to see cast as Janice Rand? Should she keep the beehive?
I keep coming back to Kirsten Dunst.  She's cute, blond, and I think she would work for the background you wrote for her in Chances.  As for the beehive, I'm not a big fan.  However, I do love big sexy hair, so if they updated it, I'd be ok with a big sexy 'do.  What about you?

3. What's your first fannish memory?
Coming across fanvids for Lord of the Rings.  I was amazed at the concept for all of about two minutes, and then I was hooked and couldn't get enough.  Well, I'm still amazed at the concept, lol.

4. What is your quest?
To be the best person I can be, and help others when I can.

5. What is the flight speed of an unladen swallow?
roughly 11 meters per second, or 24 miles an hour.  (*g* I loved this question.  That was a favorite movie to watch with my high school BF)

I've just finished watching the last disc of the Return of the King extended edition and I'm missing LotR and Lotrips fandom terribly. It's been 10 years since they started filming!! What an amazingly fantastic and moving experience it was, the whole ride, and I feel so thankful that Peter Jackson and New Line were so generous in providing us so much material in the extended edition DVD's. I wonder if they have any plans for the upcoming 10 year anniversary.

I'm hoping that the Star Trek Reboot cast and franchise will continue on for several movies and grow to that level of emotional connection and history. I'm thinking that they will because the actors already seem to be very connected and the huge Trek fan base and franchise can support many more movies. While nothing can replace the LotR experience, I want Trek to be just as cherished in my memories when this is all over.
