Apr. 14th, 2013 10:04 pmThere's been recent news discussion about Netflix mining data on user viewing habits with streaming video, and how that may or may not affect users. I'm not sure what I think about the whole thing overall, but: I've been doing a lot of rewatching The Vampire Diaries S3 episodes because the fic series I'm writing (and am so close to finishing!!!) is closely tied to cannon. I'm lifting all kinds of dialog and such from my viewing. I dare Netflix to make any sort of sense from all the pausing, rewinding and fast forwarding to various scenes, rewinding the same ten seconds over and over, and such that I've been doing. That kind of behavior makes no sense to anyone not engaged in fannish activity. I got a sort of "Ha. Haha! Ahahahaha!" *evil Mr. Burns hands* moment from someone over there scratching their heads at all the randomness we probably generate that screws with their stats. :D
