Delicious.com PSA

Just a reminder for those that have a delicious account - You have to accept the upgrade of your account to the new delicious site or supposedly your account will be deleted!!  That is supposed to happen sometime this month, but no firm date was given on the website.  It's very easy, just takes a minute.  Sign in like you usually do and you'll be prompted.  I'd hate for anyone to lose their account, so go and do it!

ETA: there may or may not be restrictions on posting 'offensive or pornographic' things to the new delicious.  See the comments for more details.

I ended up moving all my bookmarks to pinboard.in because part of the change is a change in terms of service, and Delicious added the "no sexual content" boilerplate that lots of sites have. I guess they think "normal users" don't use it for that. Pinboard isn't free but it's not corporate and I trust it more.

Oh man, I totally missed the 'no sexual stuff' change. That really sucks for fandom!! Did pinboard let you import directly from delicious? I did look into the other sites, but didn't settle on any of the others being better than delicious.

You can export to a file from Delicious and import to pinboard and it keeps your notes and tags. It's not quite as full-featured, though; the search only searches tags, which drives me nuts when I'm trying to fid a fic by title. You can follow other users, and choose if individual bookmarks are public/private, and they have an "organize" feature like Delicious that will put the editable bookmark at the top and the page it links to below so you can go through and tag them easily.

Oh now I remember why I wasn't too keen on it, they don't have tag bundles... I have over a thousand tags, and the idea of not having bundles for them is a bit scary. But I don't think Netvouz has tag bundles either, so I might just be screwed with that.

I don't WANT to have to move! I've got three years of my fannish history in dates archived in Delicious, and if I go anywhere else that will be lost. *sigh* This sucks.

BTW, where did you see the "no sexual content" info in the TOS? I looked for it but couldn't find it.

Hmm, there was a big flap about it and I remember reading the TOS, but looking at the current one I can't find anything about pornographic content. Maybe we convinced them to change their minds. Maybe they did remove it, that would be excellent! I've seen several journal comments about the 'no sexual content', but no one saying that has been removed.
