2015 Vividcon Vid Recs

pslasherI had a Vividcon viewing party at my house again this year and I thought it would be cool to make a list of all the vids I showed at the party, and the others that I really liked but didn't have time to show. It grew into a monster rec list - I don't know if I'll ever do a list this comprehensive again! But I think most of you may find at least a couple of interesting things to watch. If you love vids it’s worth the $40 yearly fee so you can stream everything (including some stuff that isn’t up online!) and get a DVD of some of the new vids.

I wasn’t expecting to show this one but it came on and everyone was all “what is this?!?” and then they said roll with it. I can’t speak for the movie, but the vid is pretty sexy! In an… interesting way. At first glance it’s very heavily male gaze, but then it seems to have some campy bits, and it sorta looks like it’s going for a female empowered type thing, except… I’m pretty sure it doesn’t quite make it? I’m not sure how to describe it, or what to think of it overall, except that I did enjoy it.

This is beautifully edited, and makes me ponder the edges of vidding and where they are. Is this a vid? There is not really a central fandom, and the characters aren’t clearly defined, per se. If it’s not a vid, what is it? A little mini film? I’m not sure, but it was beautiful.

I’d never thought much on this ship. Since Derek/Stiles is so huge and I enjoy it I just always wind up reading it. I have never seen the show, so I’ve never seen any of the Derek and Scott interactions. This vid did an amazing job of showing them together, and I think it would be interesting to explore them.
